We provide a "paper weight" forging that can be finished to build an AR15 (style) lower receiver. The machining is approximately 80% complete. It is made of mil spec -forged 7075 aluminum. It has been machined to the point that a person with a modest home shop and modest skills will probably be able to complete it in a day or two. This forging is the same forging, and from the same source, that most of the major AR15 manufactures use .

AR15 lower receiver

A "completed" (ready to use) lower receiver is what the ATF considers to be a firearm. In other words, the lower receiver is the "gun". When building your own AR15, the lower is the component of the AR15 that you have to purchase from a licensed firearm dealer. In order to purchase a completed lower receiver , you would under go a background check and then wait the required period of time. (for example, California requires a 10 day wait) and then it will be a registered firearm.

The remainder of the AR15 can be purchased through us and many different companies in the form of a kit and without the background check , subsequent waiting period or registration. The kit will often include everything else necessary to complete your AR15 including the barrel, stock, receiver parts etc.

Our 80% lowers are not considered to be firearms by the ATF. As such, you do not need to purchase it through a firearm dealer.

Our rifle kits are not considered to be firearms by the ATF. As such, you do not need to purchase it through a firearm dealer.

Building your own:

Just what does building your own mean? It boils down to finishing (home machining) your lower receiver and then assembling the remainder of your AR15 kit. In another words, attaching everything necessary to the lower in order to complete your AR.

So why on earth would you want to construct your own AR15? There can be a lot of reasons. First, it's fun! Secondly, you can save a lot of money by constructing your own. Or there is also a bunch of you that love a challenge. Maybe you are into total customization. Perhaps you seek the sense of accomplishment in knowing that you are out there on the firing range using the actual beauty that you built in your garage. Your buddies probably will not believe it!

Even the BATF says that we can build our own for our personal use as long as it is not built for the purpose of selling or giving it to someone else. But... you have to be able to legally own a firearm. From everything else that we understand, the BATF does not require it to be registered either. Since we are not lawyers, you will need to do your own legal research to determine what the laws are in your local area. We can, however state, that if you live in California, your AR15 has to be California compliant in order to be legal.

Our 80% lowers come with a free CD packed full of valuable links and advise. The CD is provided at no extra charge and is probably worth what you will pay for the 80% lower. The CD will be your guide to finishing your lower.
